Roger, Le, and Jolie
ROGER · LE · JOLIE Somewhere in Europe · 2025
§ 01 · 1994

The web was a whisper.

In 1994, most people had never heard of the Internet. Businesses didn't have websites. "Going online" meant something only universities, governments, and a handful of forward‑thinking companies were doing. That's exactly when we found it — and each other.

§ 02 · LISBON · BY ASSIGNMENT

Roger was a journalist.

Working for Nova Gente magazine in Lisbon, Portugal. His editor handed him an unusual assignment: write about this new thing called the Internet. To report on it, he had to use it. And once he was in, there was no going back.

§ 03 · UNITED STATES · BY CURIOSITY

Le logged on from her desk.

An HR professional, she'd gotten Internet access through her workplace. She logged on out of curiosity. He logged on for a story. Somewhere between those two reasons, a partnership began.

§ 04 · OCTOBER 1996

Reinventing, then registering.

By 1996, we'd decided our future was together — which meant Roger moving to the United States. Leaving journalism behind wasn't easy, but he'd already fallen in love with Linux, servers, and the architecture of the web itself. He bought books. He taught himself. He learned to manage Linux servers, to program in Perl (and later PHP), to understand the plumbing that was quietly becoming the backbone of modern life.

In October 1996, Roger registered RogerLe.com — one of the earliest hosting companies specifically serving the Portuguese and Brazilian communities online.

That domain is still here. Still running. Nearly 30 years later.

§ 05 · THE LONG ROAD

RogerLe.com has seen it all.

The dot‑com boom. The bust. Broadband replacing dial‑up. PHP replacing Perl. Cloud computing changing everything — and then not changing everything quite as much as predicted.

Through every wave, the company kept going. Along the way, Roger spent years working in technology across some of America's most recognized corporations — in telecommunications, networking, logistics, and financial services. Good jobs, demanding environments, and the kind of real‑world infrastructure experience you simply can't get from a tutorial. Every role made him a better engineer. Every role made RogerLe.com stronger.

§ 06 · COMMUNITY

Who we serve.

RogerLe.com was born to serve the Portuguese and Brazilian communities — people who wanted reliable hosting from someone who understood their language, their culture, and their needs. That connection is still part of who we are today.

Whether you're in Lisbon, São Paulo, or anywhere in between, you'll find a host here that speaks your language — literally and technically.

§ 07 · NOW

Where we are today.

Roger and Le are retired. They travel Europe in their motorhome with their dog Jolie, exploring new places and living life on their own terms. The company they started nearly three decades ago quietly hums along — running on custom‑built infrastructure they designed, built, and control entirely themselves.

The website you're looking at right now? Built in‑house. The helpdesk system? Built in‑house. The billing platform? Also built in‑house. No third‑party subscriptions, no vendor lock‑in, no "sorry, that's our platform's limitation." Just clean, fast, reliable hosting on infrastructure we know inside and out.

§ 08 · WHY

Why host with us.

We're not chasing growth. We're not trying to be the biggest hosting company on the internet. We host a select number of clients, and we like it that way — every site gets real attention from someone who actually knows what they're doing.

If you want a faceless mega‑host with a ticket system and a 48‑hour response time, there are plenty of options out there. If you want a host that's been around since 1996, runs on enterprise‑grade custom infrastructure, speaks Portuguese, and genuinely cares whether your website is up — you've found the right place.

RogerLe.com. Here since October 1996. Still building something better.
